RISK RECOGNITION
I agree to abide by the Mountain Code of Conduct ("Code") at all times and to treat others with courtesy. The Code is adopted pursuant to the Loi sur la sécurité dans les sports. The Code applies to everyone involved in snow sports and has the force of law. Activities and events organized by Mont Blanc, including alpine skiing and snowboarding, mountain biking (downhill and uphill), Wibit inflatable water games, alpine hiking, snowshoeing, ski, snowboard, bike and wakeboard lessons, as well as wakeboarding and participation in sporting events and competitions, involve inherent risks that each participant must recognize and accept. These risks include, but are not limited to, changing weather conditions that may affect the quality and safety of activities (snow, rain, wind, freezing rain, extreme cold, extreme heat), the presence of natural and man-made obstacles such as rocks, trees, crevasses, pits, slippery surfaces, snow park modules, steep trails, water structures and course elements, the presence of ice and patches of ice, both in winter and summer, increasing the risk of falls, the risk of collision with other users, including skiers, cyclists, hikers, swimmers and activity participants, the use of ski lifts, including risks related to loading, unloading, stops during operation and breakdowns, the presence of maintenance and rescue vehicles and snowmaking equipment at all times on the mountain, risks related to physical exertion, such as fatigue, cramps, sprains, fractures, hypothermia, hyperthermia, drowning, defective or misused equipment increasing the risk of accidents, loss or theft of personal equipment, as well as increased risks related to participation in sporting events or competitions due to speed, jumps and physical contact. Mont Blanc has a zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of alcohol, drugs or any other substance that may impair physical or cognitive abilities, and any violation will result in sanctions up to and including immediate expulsion without refund and prosecution for violation of applicable laws. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian/caregiver or participant to disclose to the school and the instructor any pre-existing medical condition of the student that may have an impact on the practice of the sport and the inherent risks. I recognize that the sports are practiced over a large area, which means that the instructor is not in close proximity to his/her student(s) at all times, nor can he/she intervene directly at all times. Instructors cannot have visual contact with their students at any time. In a group lesson, the instructor's attention is divided among the students, and the instructor cannot focus on one student in particular at any given time.
